Cooling of Livestock (poultry, etc.)

When life stock feed, heat of metabolism is generated which has to be dissipated to prevent a build up in body temperature. During the hot period of the day the temperature surrounding the livestock may become too high for the heat to dissipate fast enough to prevent the rise in body temperature. This in turn creates stress on the livestock resulting in loss of appetite, growth and even death under severe conditions. This problem can be eliminated to a great extent by keeping livestocks in closed houses with tunnel cooling. The cheapest form of cooling air is by means of natural evaporation of water into the air stream. As explained in our introduction Munters Celdek pads magnify this process thus increasing the cooling efficiency.

Celdek evaporative pads are used widely in cooling of livestock houses. With Celdek the evaporation takes place solely at the pads without the water being introduced into the livestock houses in liquid form (droplets). Water is distributed over the pads via a low pressure distribution system without the need of nozzles.
These factors gives evaporation cooling with Celdek the following benefits:

Cheap, effective cooling without risk of excessive droplets of water wetting the livestocks and floors thus creating discomfort as well as breeding deadly bacteria.
Labour saving - not having to clean spray nozzles.
Only low pressure pump required.
The water distribution system also creates a self-cleaning mechanism, thus minimising clogging. It also has the benefit of removing some of the dust from the air entering the livestock houses.

We can supply the Celdek pads with or without the water distribution system (Cooldek) to be installed on the wall of livestock house separately from the fans or we can supply a packaged unit (Agri-cool) incorporating the pads, water distribution system, pump and fan.
